The 7 skin method is a layering technique where you apply a hydrating toner (or essence) in multiple thin layers—up to seven—to help dry skin drink in water and feel more comfortable. Instead of relying on one heavy application, you build hydration gradually: apply a light layer, let it absorb, then repeat. For dry or flaky skin, this can reduce tightness and help makeup sit better by improving surface hydration.
Start with freshly cleansed skin. Choose a gentle, alcohol-free toner or essence that focuses on hydration (look for ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, or beta-glucan). Pour a small amount into your palms or onto a soft cotton pad, press it into the face and neck, and wait a few seconds until it feels mostly absorbed. Repeat for 3–7 layers depending on how dry you feel.
If your skin is very dry, you don’t have to hit seven layers every time. Many people do 3–5 layers daily and save 6–7 for extra-parched days. Once you’ve layered your toner/essence, follow with a moisturizer to seal it in. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
Keep each layer thin—over-saturating can leave skin sticky and prone to pilling when you apply moisturizer or SPF. If you’re also using exfoliants (like acids or retinoids), consider doing the 7 skin method on alternate nights or use fewer layers to avoid irritation. If stinging or redness shows up, stop and switch to a simpler, barrier-supporting routine.

Yes—many people with dry skin use it daily. If your skin gets sensitive or starts to sting, cut back to fewer layers or use it only at night.
